Thoughts of Kautilya Chanakya (India)

Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja, Executive Director, CISS AJK, was invited as a guest speaker at the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, for the 55th PN Staff Course , where she delivered a lecture titled “ Thoughts of Kautilya Chanakya (India)” on 07 January 2026.

Her lecture explored key dimensions of Chanakya’s strategic thought, including the concepts of expansionism, the Mandal and Danda theories, and the four upayas—sama (conciliation), dana (inducement), bheda (division), and danda (use of force), highlighting their relevance to statecraft and foreign policy analysis.

The session was attended by faculty and approximately 120 mid-career officers from the armed forces of Pakistan and friendly countries, fostering critical engagement with classical strategic traditions in a contemporary security context.
