Nuclear Energy at COP29

by CISSAJK

World leaders at COP29 agreed to triple nuclear energy by 2050 for net-zero goals, with private investment driving projects. Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) were highlighted as ideal for remote areas like the Arctic. Youth engagement and gender diversity were emphasized to build a strong nuclear workforce. Nuclear energy’s role in clean energy (SDG 7) and climate action (SDG 13) was a key focus.

Pakistan should invest in SMRs, involve youth in nuclear projects, and promote women’s participation to boost clean energy and support climate goals.
