Research Officer Abdul Rehman represented CISS AJK at the Critical Studies on Terrorism Annual Conference, organized by the Critical Studies on Terrorism Working Group of the British International Studies Association (BISA).

1. He presented his paper titled The Panopticon State: Analyzing Surveillance Practices in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir

2. Abdul Rehman explored how surveillance reshapes subjectivity and dissent in IIOJK.
3. He analyzed the overlap between Foucault’s Panopticon, Orwell’s Totalitarianism, and Shoshana Zuboff’s Surveillance Capitalism to explain the evolving surveillance architecture imposed in the IIOJK.
4. He also highlighted the dangerous feedback loop in which hyper-surveillance breeds alienation, forecloses peaceful dissent, and ultimately fuels further resistance and securitization.
