The Center for International Strategic Studies Azad Jammu and Kashmir (CISS-AJK) organized an international webinar titled “ October 27: The Illegitimate Occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and the Unyielding Spirit of Resistance.”
Delivering the opening remarks, Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja, Executive Director CISS-AJK, reflected on October 27, 1947, as a day that marked the beginning of India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. She underscored the Kashmiri people’s enduring resistance and also analyzed the recent May 2025 Pakistan–India crisis, highlighting the role of nuclear deterrence in maintaining strategic stability in South Asia.
Distinguished speakers included Ms. Farzana Yaqoob, Ms. Shamim Shawl, Advocate Rehana Ali, and Mr. Abdul Rehman, who provided in-depth perspectives on the historical, legal, and political dimensions of the Kashmir dispute.
