Suppression and Silent Suffering: Women’s Perspectives on Militarization in Kashmir

Syed Tahreem Bukhari, Associate Director, and Saba Ghulam Nabi, Research Officer at CISS AJK, participated as speakers in the webinar titled
“Suppression and Silent Suffering: Women’s Perspectives on Militarization in Kashmir,”
organized by Kashmir Media Service (KMS) in collaboration with the United Kashmir Journalists Association (UKJA).

🔹 Syed Tahreem Bukhari underscored that despite enduring decades of militarization and systemic violence, Kashmiri women remain resilient political actors, contributing through leadership, legal resistance, documentation of abuses, and preservation of collective memory.

🔹 *Saba Ghulam Nabi highlighted the deep psychological and social toll of prolonged conflict on Kashmiri women, emphasizing its impact on their mental health, sense of security, and overall well-being.

📌 The discussion reinforced the urgent need to center women’s voices and lived experiences in narratives on Kashmir and conflict resolution.
