Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja, Executive Director, CISS AJK attended a talk by Victoria Schofield titled “Jammu and Kashmir — The Way Forward: Navigating Pathways to Peace” on 12 May 2026 at the Institute of Regional Studies.
Dr. Khawaja participated as an invited discussant.
Highlights:
➡️Called for the creation of a comprehensive knowledge bank on Kashmir based on international academic standards.
➡️Stated that India has dehumanised the Kashmir conflict by ignoring its humanitarian dimensions.
Emphasized that equality and empathy should guide discourse on Kashmir.
➡️Highlighted the Jammu genocide as one of the least reported tragedies of 1947, noting the killings of hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri Muslims in Jammu.
