The Center for International Strategic Studies (CISS) AJK organized a poster competition to commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer on 30th May 2024, marking the 6th nuclear test conducted by Pakistan on 30th May 1998, following five successful tests on 28th May. The Vice Chancellor of UAJK, Dr. Kaleem Abbasi, along with the Chair of the Arts and Design Department, Dr. Ruksana, faculty members, and students participated in the event.
Asma Khawaja, Executive Director of CISS AJK, gave the opening remarks, highlighting the journey of Pakistan’s nuclear program. She stated, “The difference between Kashmir and Palestine is that Palestine does not have a Pakistan.” Her remarks were followed by those of the Vice Chancellor of UAJK, who shared his views on the event and appreciated the journey of CISS AJK. He also acknowledged the importance of celebrating Youm-e-Takbeer through various mediums, especially art. He recalled the days when Pakistan tested nuclear weapons and the difficulties the country faced in recovering from the 1971 episode to build its nuclear capability. He emphasized that a strong Pakistan is the guarantor of Kashmiri rights.
The event was well attended by students, teachers, research faculty, and staff of UAJK. In the end, cash prizes were awarded to the position holders and certificates were distributed to all participants. Students from the Arts and Sciences Departments also expressed their love for Pakistan through a beautiful national song.
At last, the Vice Chancellor of UAJK appreciated CISS AJK for publishing the Strategic Perspective journal and commended the Executive Director and the editorial team for their efforts.
