The Centre for International Strategic Studies Azad Jammu and Kashmir (CISS-AJK) organized a conference titled ‘From Campaign Rhetoric to Diplomatic Realities: Modi’s Reelection and the India-Pakistan Equation’. The event primarily focused on analyzing the effects of the recent Indian elections on the region, beyond the region, and particularly on Pakistan.
The event was a part of academic activities scheduled to enhance research and policy development through the scholarly forum of CISS AJK. Earlier, guests, including former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider, received a warm welcome from the research team. The event was attended by researchers, dignitaries from academia, civil administration, and the media persons.
During the conference, in his remarks, Dr. Khurram Abbas, Director of the India Study Centre, highlighted how India under Modi is determined to undermine Pakistan through various political, economic, and diplomatic tactics. Another speaker, Major General (retired) Samrez Salik, discussed the strategic impact of the Indian political environment on Pakistan and the region. Raja Farooq Haider provided his insights on the political front and the evolving political landscape in Pakistan. He shed light on the geopolitical foundations of India’s foreign policy, emphasizing the need for a sound and long-term national policy to counter India’s aggressive stance and resolve the Kashmir issue. Following his keynote address, there was a question and answer session. Executive Director CISS AJK, Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja concluded the conference with her closing remarks. She thanked the guests and attendees for their participation and valuable insights, which contributed to the success of the event.
