The event marked 77 years of independence, a significant milestone in the region’s history. It not only celebrated AJK’s freedom but also reaffirmed the enduring struggle for the liberation of Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).
The program was moderated by Research Officer Saba Ghulam Nabi, who highlighted the importance of this day in the historical context of Jammu and Kashmir’s freedom movement. Research Officer Abdul Rehman provided an in-depth analysis of key historical events, including the Maharaja’s so-called Instrument of Accession and the struggle of Kashmiri Muslims from 1847 to 1947. Research faculty members of CISS-AJK discussed the growing disconnect between AJK’s youth and the Kashmir cause while stressing the urgency of countering Indian hollow irredentist claims. They passionately called for unity and stronger diplomatic efforts, emphasizing the need for a shift in approach to reignite the struggle for freedom. The session ended with: “It’s time to rethink our strategy. Youth should participate with knowledge and unity. We need a dynamic approach, rooted in unity and diplomacy, to pave the way for the Right to Self-Determination.
