International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women as a Tool to Suppress the Kashmir Movement

Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja, Executive Director, Center for International Strategic Studies AJK (CISSAJK), spoke at a webinar titled “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women as a Tool to Suppress the Kashmir Movement ” Organized by Friend of Kashmir on 25th November 2024 . She highlighted the immense suffering of women in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where violence against women is systematically used to suppress the Kashmiri freedom struggle .
She called on the international community to take urgent action to protect Kashmiri women in IIOJK , who face severe human rights violations, including sexual violence and psychological trauma. She stressed that remembering Kashmiri women of IIOJK on this day is essential to draw attention to their resilience and the need for justice, as their struggles symbolize the broader fight against oppression and violence.
