CISS-AJK Strategic Outreach Program: “In Conversation with AJK’s Next Gen”
On December 3, 2024, the research faculty of the Centre for International Strategic Studies AJK (CISS-AJK) conducted a strategic outreach visit to the University of AJK, Jhelum Valley Campus. This initiative focused on youth capacity-building and raising awareness about critical strategic issues in the region.
The event commenced with an introductory session by Associate Research Officer Rimsha Malik, who outlined CISS-AJK’s role and its initiatives aimed at addressing regional and strategic challenges. Following the introduction, Associate Research Officer Hira Bashir delivered an presentation on the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Technology for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her discussion highlighted the potential of nuclear technology in advancing sustainable development in various sectors.
Associate Research Officer Raja Abdul Basit followed with presentation on Kashmir: The Key to Strategic Stability in South Asia. He emphasized Kashmir’s pivotal role in the region’s geopolitical landscape. Research Officer Abdul Rehman concluded the presentations with a detailed discourse on Environmental Security in AJK, underscoring the ecological challenges and opportunities unique to the area.
The program concluded with an interactive Question and Answer segment, where students posed perceptive and thought-provoking questions, reflecting their keen interest in the topics discussed.
This strategic outreach initiative not only fostered meaningful policy discussions but also established a network of CISS-AJK Ambassadors within local academic institutions, ensuring sustained engagement, awareness and dialogue on strategic issues impacting the region.
