FASS 4th Contemporary Security Workshop 2024

Research Officer Tayyaba Khurshid Sucessfully completed 2 weeks Workshop organized by Faculty of Aerospace and Strategic Studies, Air University Islamabad.

She Received shield for being the Best Participant with other two fellows from Punjab University and Air University . The workshop covered diverse topics ranging from South Asia’s Regional Security to Emerging Global Order, Emerging Technologies, Multilateral Arms Control, Maritime Security, Geo-economics, Nuclear Technology, Space and Detterence, Foreign Policy, and Climate Detterence).

The interesting part of workshop was Crisis Simulation conducted by Faraz Haider in which Tayyaba Khurshid represented Iran as a country and devised strategies and policies as Iran’s representative to a well crafted crisis situation between US and Iran.

The speakers of workshop were top notch academicians ( Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal , Professor Wyn Bowen , Dr Adil Sultan (PhD) , Dr. Adam Saud ) policy makers and practioners ( Mr Husham Ahmed UN, Amb Zamir Akram, DG ACDA Brig (R) Zahir Kazmi , Amb AsadMajeed Khan, Amb Abdul Basit) , think tank professionals ( Rear Admiral Faisal Ali Shah , Dr @AneelSalman , Ms. amina khan , Mr. Siddique Humayun ) bringing vast experience into the lectures and discussions during the course of workshop.

On December 21, 2023, RO Zohaib Altaf and ARO Nimra Javed participated in a One Day Workshop on Use of Artificial Intelligence for Academic Research conducted by Kashmir Institute of Economics at Lincoln Corner Muzaffarabad.

Three-day International Workshop focusing on Exploring New Frontiers in International Security: Cyberspace, Artificial Intelligence, and Autonomy

The CISS AJK team, led by Executive Director Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja, actively participated in a three-day International Workshop focusing on “Exploring New Frontiers in International Security: Cyberspace, Artificial Intelligence, and Autonomy” held from November 22nd to 24th, 2023. Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja took on the role of session moderator during the inaugural day of the workshop, contributing expertise to guide discussions.

The workshop was attended by Research Officers Zohaib Altaf and Shahzad Akram, as well as Associate Research Officers Nimra Javed and Rimsha Malik. Their engagement in the workshop facilitated an enriched understanding of their respective domains, allowing for a comprehensive acquisition of knowledge in line with their designated responsibilities.

Content Writing For Social Media

On June 8, 2023, CISS AJK Team attended a Workshop on ” Content Writing For Social Media” hosted by The Science School. Dr. Lubna Khalid Kidwai highlighted the role of epistemic beliefs in understanding various truths and the complexity attached in finding the truth and authenticity of any content in contemporary times due to multiple sources of information. Touching upon the philosophical underpinnings of research and content writing, the speaker shared her views on the importance of differentiating between naive and sophisticated beliefs of people and write content that is based on truth, evidence, deep research and facts and halt the spread of false/propaganda based news, content and information. Economic Diplomacy

On feb 17, 2023, conducted by IPRI, Islamabad, researchers from CISS AJK attended a two-day workshop on “Economic Diplomacy” conducted by ipri pak. The workshop was an excellent platform to discuss the geo-economic prospects for pakistan.

Workshop at QAU attended by Aurat-ul-Ain Shabbir

2 days dissertation workshop, facilitated by Dr. Anita Weiss, was conducted at QAU Islamabad. Research Officer at CISS AJK, Qurat-Ul-Ain attended the workshop. The workshop was a fruitful step forward in building research writing capabilities of CISS AJK researchers.
